Love how c c c old it gets instantly! Had knee arthroscopy for torn meniscus Oct 30. Bought pre op for stiffness and swelling, post op for same. It’s probably the best one on the market, at least in this price range but it needs tweakingTo be perfect.1) the tubing from the machine that connects to whatever part of the body pad you buy is a pain. It sometimes has a mind of its own and it wants to turn when you want it to twist or it twists when you wish it wouldn’t. Also it hasn’t broken yet, but I feel that on the knee part (bought separately) that there should be a sleeve at the “joint” where the knee pad’s rubber hosing comes out. That area seems to be a stress point... yesterday I did notice some material (black plastic?) coming out from inside the knee pad. I pushed it back inside.2) the handle is weird, especially when it comes to dumping the water out after a good icing. It’s just in the way. It wants to be in the way of the “waterfall” (the water coming out of the ‘cooler’, when you really want it flipped in back. I can’t figure out now why it is that I can’t do that. Is it just me I wonder?3) awful lid attachment. That lid has popped off onto the floor, into the sink as we’ve had the issue over by the sink loading it up or emptying it out. The hinges just aren’t deep enough. It’s not a good feeling when that happens.4) the machine, when empty - when you’re at the sink about to fill it with water or after you’ve emptied it, falls easy. Something about the distribution of weight. The “cooler” or “tank” is lightweight and the hosing is heavy rubber, and like I said, the tubing seems to have a mind of its own and it has actually made my Ossur machine fall off the counter into the floor making the lid come off in the process. One of the lid’s 4 prongs or whatever you call them - hinges- is broken but the lid still operates as it did before.5) the lid. It sure is a nice tight closure! Great! In the beginning I couldn’t get it open. I actually had to use a butter knife in the seam in front and twisted it gently to open the lid. New users like my fiancé also had trouble. Once you get to know how to do it you’ll be fine. It just takes a little more finger work to pry the lid open than anyone expects.6) when finished with icing, I’ve taken to NOT separate the knee pad from the hosing that’s connected to the machine because though small, I don’t like the very small amount of water that drips out. I prefer not to have to deal, so I leave it connected.7) the Velcro ace bandages (White) that come with the knee pad are a pain to know which end sticks and which ends don’t stick. Should be color coded. I don’t know how many times I’ve tried them one way then the other finally getting them the way they’re supposed to. The other thing is that when you take them off, the end flaps immediately stick to the bandage and woah, what a tight bond you’ve gotta be like a she-woman to pry them apart in order to use them.8). I’m very happy with this machine but it really may be a “one injury” purchase. I’m not too sure. At least one other reviewer said this.9) we found that using different sized plastic food containers that we perfumed eith water then froze and then emptied out of their containers into the water in the ossur made for colder conditions than the water bottles everyone said to use. (The ice doesn’t have to work it’s way through the plastic of the water bottles!)You get more bang for your ossur icing machine using whatever plastic containers you use around the house for leftovers.I know I complained about a lot but it’s all quite trivial and in no way should sway you from buying this machine if your doctor says you need to ice an injury. It’s not even that heavy and if I have to get up while icing, I can unplug it from the adapter on the unit, and carry it by it’s easter basket handle In order to go into the kitchen or go find whatever it is I desperately need to do.It’s so quiet and so powerfulIt’s compact. It does the job like a real work horse.Just little changes in the engineering to make things a little less burdensome and troubling would be awesome.
