I purchased these in a 7 but had to return, too small so I can't say how they walked. It is an exquisite shoe; the leather gorgeous. I was told in Nordstrom that I need a wide shoe. I have never worn a wide but am noticing a corn on my right toe where new shoes seem to rub. I have another pair of MEPHISTOS that do that too. So I can't say these run narrow. I was fortunate enough to find another pair that look exactly the same as these on A MEPHISTOS site and the shoe is called MATCH. AMAZON didn't have the 7.5. So I ordered them. I think an 8 would be too big. Can't stand for my foot to slide up in a shoe. Hope it is a legit MEPHISTOS site. Ever since the changeover to shoes being made in China or abroad, sizing has been an issue for me, which I can go from 6-8.Anyway when I tried to return them, the label came up that I needed to traipse down to USPS and then pay for shipping. I complained to the seller and got the most amazing customer service. He got in touch immediately! and sent me a PREPAID label. Very much appreciated!I just got these shoes and really like them. They are very comfortable and well designed and I would order them again.There is one small design flaw; the tongue on this shoe is way too long and is very stiff. I am sure with some wear it will break in and be more comfortable, but it would be better if the manufacturer made the tongue more padded and not quite so long.Also, be aware that the shoe runs a bit small. I normally wear a women 8, I ordered an 8.5 because of the advice from other reviewers and they were right on.A bit spendy, but a good shoe all around. I look forward to wearing them for a long time and will probably purchase more in the future.Hopefully this second pair of Rush walking shoes will be as comfortable as my first pair. I had to order a half size larger since I was unable to fins a 6 1/2. I gather this great shoe is being discontinued so I ordered a larger size. A little big but that can be good when you walk hours a day. My original Rush ( now in repair after walking many miles the past several years) allowed my usual aching feet to walk all over the cobblestones in the Baltic nations without misery. These shoes have thick soles, nice leather uppers and great support for serious walkers.I love shoes by Mephisto! I have had about 35 pair (different designs, including sandals, etc.) within the last 15 or 20 years. In fact, I still have this same shoe in a different color which I purchased approximately 15 years ago and it's still comfortable and looks almost new. (I care for my shoes and keep them clean and rotate them.) The workmanship is of very high quality--that's why they last for a long time. Mephisto company stands behind their shoes. (Go to their website, you'll be impressed.) I have poor feet, so when I put on a shoe, it better be supportive . . . and look great too! This shoe delivers! I can wear this shoe from early in the morning until bedtime. My husband owns this very same shoe for men; it too takes the punishment of walking over different terrains.I followed the advice of several raters and ordered a half size up. (Good advice.) I have wanted to try Mephisto shoes for years, and was undecided between two colors, so I ordered them both. The shoes came quickly and I noticed right away that they were heavy shoes, but for the comfort I was expecting, the weight wasn't an issue. What was an issue was the tongues on the shoes hitting my foot right where it bends. I thought maybe I could get used to that and also the squeaking, but overall I did not feel these shoes were worth the price. They were not especially comfortable, and even though they look stylish on Amazon's website, they looked enormous on my feet. Customer service was very good about providing return labels and a full refund. I really wanted to like these shoes, but they just didn't work out for me.This pair replaces my original Mephisto Rush walking shoes purchased about 10 years ago. I haven't worn the new ones outside yet, but they feel great - with one little exception. The tongue is a bit stiff, but I'm hoping that will relax over time. The old pair were worn for all my outside work in the Phoenix desert. Before purchasing, my back would hurt from working in the yard for 3-4 hours. But with the Rush shoe, I had no back pain at all and could work outside longer if weather permitted. The Birch Nubuck color is very nice and makes my size 7.5 foot look smaller than the previous off white color.I purchased these because I wanted a very stout, comfortable and supportive walking shoe, and one in which my custom orthotics would fit nicely. I suffer from Plantar Fasciitis, and need really good support plus all-day comfort. These fit the bill nicely. They are not particularly fashionable, but I'm past that consideration in a walking shoe. They are also not the cheapest shoe to purchase. But, if you measure cost relative to life, I suspect they actually are the cheapest. They are built to last 10 or more years, which cannot be said of most other walking shoes out there.As soon as these shoes arrived I put them on to wear around the house and "break them in." I didn't want to take them off. They are SO comfortable, seriously, I could cry from joy. I am 69 and have problem feet. I am SO grateful to Mephisto for creating such a comfortable shoe. One review stated that the tongue was to high and cut into her foot. In some sense this is true BUT if you don't lace all the way but leave one hole unlaced, they are still secure and you don't feel the tongue. I cannot recommend this shoe highly enough.
